I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a dual camera leather harness for some time now, but with limited local offerings, the South African photographer has been subjected to either ordering one from Holdfast, RL Handcrafts or many other popular international strap makers, leaving a sizable tax to be paid on delivery and import duties.
I did some digging around the web and discovered CO.VENANT leather goods, crafting some stylish and functional hand-made leather camera straps, catering to professional photographers and hobbyists alike. And while CO.VENANT produces a wide range of leather straps and goods, I’ve been lucky enough to get my hand on their dual operator camera harness for review.

We got the opportunity to visit Jacques, the owner, in his studio and get an insiders look at how these products come to life. From the cutting of material to the finishing touches is completed by one set of hands, with precision and passion.

Jacques from CO.VENANT designed a product that is meant to last a lifetime, crafted with the highest quality full grain leather, long-lasting durable hardware and attention to detail on every finish. A product for the creative that allows them to master their craft, made by a master craftsman.
Sarah and I are welcoming a little one into the world and with this, we’ve had to make a few business changes where I’m shooting a couple more weddings solo each season. This is where the dual harness is a necessity, being able to carry two cameras paired with our favourite prime lenses on each. Carrying two cameras on this harness allows us to do so without fiddling and changing lenses while at the risk of losing a moment.

After 8 to 10 hours on our feet our gear starts taking its toll on our bodies, this strap alleviates the stress by distributing the weight evenly across our shoulders and away from the lower back. Personal health and well-being should never be ignored and this strap is my backs saving grace.
Did I mention how stylish it is? We’ve been stopped countless times at weddings by guests and fellow photographers admiring the craftsmanship and look of this strap, this positive attention elevates our brand and pushes the appeal for future clients.

I highly recommend visiting his new store opened in Durbanville and see all CO.VENANT has on option. I guarantee you’ll find something suited to your kit.
The best of all about this company is that you’re supporting local. Someone that is invested in their craft and that is proud to put out a quality product. Supporting other creatives in my own home country is a privilege and I think is a really important aspect of the creative industry that many of us overlook.
